1. Planning

Building a community of learners including: classroom management, skill building and creating student research teams.

4. Information Searching

Navigating and evaluating reliable sources of information using hard copy and digital media.


 Synthesizing

7. Synthesizing

Answering the essential questions of the project by creating a new product that communicates an enduring understanding of the project big idea.

2. Introducing 

Introducing the topic and evaluation rubric including: student interests, activating prior knowledge, brainstorming and making the project doable.


 3.  Questioning

Focusing the 'big idea' of the project by asking essential questions of what students will examine and learn in the course of their study. Essential questions promote deep and enduring understanding.

5. Information Gathering

 Deciding what is important information using note taking and bookmarking strategies to record sources.

6. Sorting & Sifting

 Organizing information by eliminating information not needed and keeping information to goes together as connected pieces.

8. Reporting

Sharing back with others a student's new knowledge with oral and technology tools


9. Evaluating 

Did the product or presentation meet the critiera of the project rubric? What did the student(s) think about their project?
