Modeled Inquiry

Teacher Centered Research

  • Teacher models research
  • Teacher explains and models the sequence of instruction

In modeled inquiry the teacher is the 'Sage of the Stage', explicitly teaching to student needs. Instructional strategies however are not just confined to direct instruction as the teacher literally encircles his or her class to begin purposeful talk conversations and discussions about nonfictional people, places and events. Biography study is one example of how a teacher can initially bring a famous person to life in class and inspire students to want to seek more information about that person.
